About Kundalini yoga
-
Kundalini is said to be our creative potential. When we practice Kundalini yoga we exercise the physical body bringing it into a state of balance and allowing our consciousness to expand. Through meditation and mantra we learn to bring stillness to the mind. It is a deeply healing practice bringing peace and bliss to body and mind.
What happens in a class
We start by tuning in and warming up our bodies with gentle stretches in preparation for a more demanding physical kriya (series of exercises and breathwork to achieve a specific aim) after which we deeply relax, and use meditation and mantra before closing the practice.
-
Who is it for?
Suitable for all ages, sizes, levels and abilities. Injuries and movement restrictions can usually be accommodated. If you are unable to sit on the floor this is no problem as we can use a chair.
What to bring
A yoga mat, blocks and/or cushions and a strap if you have them. If not, they will be provided. Bring water to drink and a blanket or extra layers (e.g. a jumper or fluffy socks).
-
What to wear
Traditionally white natural fibres are worn and the head is covered. Your comfort is of greater importance so wear whatever you feel comfortable in. We do stretch and some postures are 'cardio' in nature so wear clothes that you can move in. For example, jogging bottoms or leggings and a t-shirt, layers are good.
